- Shokichi Yamanaka, an Omi merchant, started the sake brewing business in what is now Fujinomiya, and later established four breweries (Takasago, Tamasekai, Shoshaku, and Tagoura) around Fuji.

- Masakichi Yamanaka's second son Hyouji splits the family and establishes Yamanaka Sake Brewery Joint Stock Company in Yokosuka, where the brewery is currently located.

- Reorganized into Enshu Yamanaka Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. Joined the Hamatomo Group and started increasing production through capital investment.
